My kitchen window sill had some metal plant pots already showing signs of corrosion. The plants were looking dead and the whole sight was anything but appealing. So I came with the idea of revitalizing it, after all, I expend quite some time around there as to have a sad-looking window.
Here is the process:

1.- I used, the same old metal plant pots, sandpaper, a file, a knife to scrap dirt, acrylic paint and brushes (if you have kids or like crafts, there is a high possibility you already have this last two items in your home, otherwise you could buy them for around a dollar each at any store that has a craft or do it yourself section), and I decided to throw in a pair of old plastic plant pots.

2.- I washed the plastic plant pots and took out any sticker.
3.- Sanded the metal one in order to take the corroded part.

4.- Proceeded to paint (use your imagination. It does not have to be a piece of art, just colors that please you).
As you see, you may need more than one coat. Let it dry completely between them.

5.- I happened to have silver acrylic paint, so I decided to paint the rim and some half an inch inside the metal pots with it. This last part to guarantee a good looking pot even at the inside part no covered with dirt. It is not necessary but I did it anyway.

6.- Pick some matching lids to catch the excess water that runs out of the pots when you water them.
7.- Pick some nice plants, plant them in your rejuvenated pots and put them in place to yours and others enjoinment. Note that the lids I selected are from some Greek yogurt I consumed and saved both the container and the lids. If you want, the yogurt containers could be used as plant pots and decorated the same way as in this article, or also you could use the caps of liquid detergent, just open the bottom holes.
